The Beauty of Campus Love and Relationships a Bitter Pill

Machuka's Album Photo by Emmanuel Yegon
There is that spark of ignition from within some campus teenagers once they spot Mr. and Miss handsome and beautiful respectively.  One feels awakened from a world of slumber as the hormones cause body excitement and irritation. That kind of excitement taht can give you energy to run a 10km race in one hour! The blood warms up as the rate of beating increases when these lover birds sight each other. Some will describe it as a ‘magic kind of feeling that brings in satisfaction and enthusiasm.’

Most at times, we will meet a number of pairs in the campus streets. Whatever they always whisper to each other as they walk side by side holding hands in an envying manner, I know not. I am just like you-eager to know and steal their conversation by simply walking closer to them.

‘Oh babe, you are the best. You are the first and the last thing that came into my life and changed me; and filled my heart with love. I love your hair. I love your swag. Nikikuona aki mi huishiwa tu! I love your bla bla bla...’

All they care is tell a lot of sweet nothings to each other. Sometimes it makes sense though. Some relationships have been planted on a good ground. Watered day in day out by the little actions they show each other. While a few will be looking forward to securing themselves a future husband or a wife, others will be busy having fun with any Dick and Harry they come across so long as outer beauty is the main in the checklist.

Campus is where a number of couples will take their love to the clubs; drink all night and drug each other to their areas of resident. Students involve themselves in sexual assaults, infidelity, adultery, drug abuse and crime. Most of these students will care less of the kind of person they relate to. Their circle of friends is of friends with negative benefits-sex, drugs, crime among others.

Lately, there have been a number of cases where students in campus fight, kill each other and commit suicide in the name of love. We heard of cases from Egerton University where a male killed his lady. Due to the overheard commotion in the room, neighbouring students ran to save the lady. It was too late since she was severally stubbed and died before rescue. The angry crowds beat the man to death.

Day in day out in our campus we hear of females and males fighting over either a man or a lady.
Yesterday we were disturbed by a commotion that was going on in Hostel K. Two male students were fighting over a trophy. It has a reached a point where love and relationships have a less meaning to many.

It is time we understood we to the roots of love. Learn how it operates so that we can avoid all misconceptions and the bitterness that might be caused by the vices that can come forth due to love and relationships.

  1. But yet still there is little love in this pool of infatuation. An ugly percentage like 7% might be having the taste of the actual thing
