Some of the icon entrepreneurs{From Left: Atieno Mboya, Marvin Gakunyi, Janet Machuka and Willie Oeba} |
Have you ever wondered why a number of students will spend
nights awake just to satisfy what they want? How they struggle just to be added
as the references in the varsity and the society at large? Well, this is an era
that all belief that the world belongs to those who understand what is ‘Survival
for the fittest.’ You can only survive if you struggle to emerge the best among
the best.
First and foremost, a good entrepreneur is creative.
Creativity is ability. Ability becomes as from individuality. It is from
within; driven by the passion to activate your ideas into actions. A good entrepreneur
will source ways to create capital and market for the business. Take an example
of Marvin Gakunyi, a journalist student, who has creatively marketed ‘The Marvin Gakunyi Show’ in every social
media platform to increase his viewership when it is aired in KTS TV, which is
located in Moi University. His ability makes him a good entrepreneur.
Secondly, for one to achieve he or she must be driven by
desire. Desire is a strong ability. It is the ability to execute your wants. Take
an example of Willie Oeba, a journalist in the school of Information Sciences. He
is well-known for his Sanaa Arts Club which majorly involves poetry and spoken
word. In a spun of two years, he has managed o gather a number of students and nurture
their talents, hold a number of events that comrades never miss to attend and
trend some of his shows in the social media platforms especially twitter.
Good entrepreneurs are innovative. They always set goals and
objectives in whatever they do or rather want to execute. The entrepreneur is
demanded to have new ideas and accept ideas from those around to better the
business. Take an example of Janet Machuka and Aileen Atieno, both are media
students, who are known for their set goals they want to achieve. You can
easily notice their determination in whatever they do. For instance, when they
were given a chance to work with The Standard Media Group and The Nation Group
respectively, they performed to their very best. It is the duty of an entrepreneur
to be innovative, no short-cuts.
It needs a student with a good attitude to venture into
business. Business requires better customer relations, readiness to take risks
and self motivation. He has come to be known as Wickliffe Nyamasege, a CEO of www.skydigitalnews.com. He has come to
prove that a good entrepreneur has a good attitude. It has been hard for him to
collect a number of writers and add them to one ground where they work to
execute a common profit. Although some dropped along the way, he never stopped
to push with the few he remained with. Until now, his online writing business
has done greatly.
Business is the largest sector in the society with a lot of
sections and ideas have not been exploited fully. It is your decision as a
student or rather any individual to be creative, innovative, driven by desire
and own a good attitude into entrepreneurship. It is time we took the advantage
to be self employed so as to reduce the rate of unemployment in the country.
Okay, but you have not captured it well
