The Other Awesome Side of Moi University you Never Knew

Most Kenyan universities are located in the urban areas. Kenyatta University, University of Nairobi, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Pwani University, Egerton University among other universities are located in the well-known urban centres of Kenya. On the contrary, there lies the enormous main campus of Moi University in a remote area, Kesses, which is located in the Uasin Gishu County. The varsity has been known to be the mother of a number of alumni and other universities throughout the country.

A number of people will assume that the university is harboured with all the traditional norms of the communities in the Rift Valley due to its location. Some candidates will choose another university rather than Moi University since they believe it is located in a village of uncivilized people. This is total insanity.  At the end of the day, an undergraduate is expected to emerge with a grade possibly because he or she is provided with all the elements for learning similarly with the students in the urban-located universities.

As much as some will criticize that idea of location, there is a good side of Moi Universiy that other campuses have missed out. First and foremost, most of the foods sold in the campus markets such as Talai Market Centre and Mabs, are fresh from the garden since the sellers who readily supply the goods are the villagers. This means that dangers food poisoning that might be caused by expired canned foods which are preferred by the urban population is avoided. Moreover, the students enjoy varieties of vegetables to choose from.

Fresh air is important to human beings. Most industries are located in the urban areas. There is no factory within the surrounding of Moi University hence no production of exhaust fumes that can cause air pollution which may result in health problems.

Being located far away from any urban centre, it is easier to manage garbage collection and dumping. This, in turn, hinders the habitation of mosquitoes and other diseases that may be as a result of dirt. Just in case you never knew, most Moi University students never use mosquito nets- some may have never even seen a mosquito with their naked eyes except in pictures!

Noise pollution is never a problem for those who reside in and around this peaceful university. There is no beeping of vehicles, screeching of breaks and any other noise that can be a major problem for most urban universities. Mostly, the only noises one can hear are of the comrades within the school.

Furthermore, the surrounding offers a good environment to relax during weekends. For instance, Kesses Dam offers swimming, boat riding and hiking scenery which is a walking distance from the school. The beautiful falls within the school compound also offer a best site that students can watch the waters fall beautifully down the rocks. In addition, The Garden of Eden is a site within the campus that is the best place for photo shooting and picnic.

Lastly, instead of most students spending their time roaming in towns and engaging in unwanted activities, they will rather spend in within the school studying, attending church programmes and involving their minds in creativity and innovation. Remember, M-Pesa was invented by a Moi University student! There are a number of beautiful and creative minds too in this very university.

All in all, you need to make a visit to this specific university to see for yourself.
